JCB HELPS CLIENTS COMBAT EQUIPMENT THEFT

November 15, 2005 – Savannah, GA .  JCB, one of the world’s top five manufacturers of construction equipment, has partnered with the National Equipment Register (NER) to help JCB owners combat equipment theft.

Through a 24-hour hotline, NER provides expert identification advice and equipment information from its databases of millions of equipment theft and ownership records to law enforcement seeking to identify the true owner of suspicious equipment.

By ensuring that NER has correct information on its databases, JCB is helping improve the quality and timelines of information available to officers trying to identify the true owner of JCB equipment.

Paul Keogh, JCB’s vice president of marketing, noted that “Equipment theft is a growing concern for our clients and we are keen to help them.  Helping NER to help law enforcement is one way in which we can do this.”

David Shillingford, president of NER, observed that “although theft may not directly impact the bottom line of a manufacturer, the steps that JCB is taking will certainly help their distributors and clients.”
