Recently, ISO announced that the National Equipment Register (NER) database of lost and stolen heavy construction and agricultural equipment, would be linked to ISO ClaimSearch®. Effective today, as part of the existing ISO ClaimSearchâ
claim reporting workflow, heavy equipment theft claims from NER members will now be added to the NER database. The link between the ISO ClaimSearch system and the NER database will enable insurers participating in NER to easily register equipment losses with both systems. ISO is working with NER to increase the recovery rate of stolen equipment and reduce the costs associated with theft for owners and insurers.
The NER database is a confidential database of heavy equipment ownership and loss information that will provide insurers and law enforcement with invaluable investigative resources to combat equipment theft, including:
- search access to the NER database via the Internet or with the assistance of NER operators via a toll-free number;
- access to specialist NER operators who will offer expert advice on equipment identification, PIN locations and other investigative techniques;
- additional on-line investigation tools such as a PIN location finder database, a glossary of technical terms and investigation tips;
- searches of the used equipment market;
- teams of specialist investigators to aid law enforcement in the investigation and recovery of heavy equipment
Participation in NER will increase the likelihood that stolen heavy equipment will be recovered. NER will also provide services specifically tailored to meet the needs of claims, underwriting and marketing professionals. For more information on NER membership:
